The Pinoy Big Brother house has barely been open for an hour (or two), yet Big Brother is already proving to be a stricter entity.Commemorating the 21st anniversary of our freedom from military rule, today’s PBB kick-off was flavored with military tastes. Hosts Toni Gonzaga, Mariel Rodriguez, Bianca Gonzaga, and Season 1 PBB housemate Jason Gainza were all in military attires; so were the performers. Now sporting 42 cameras and 42 microphones, the house promises to be a more technologically-advanced residence. Serving as home to a new batch of housemates for 126 days, the house now covers a bigger area and sports a universal design (courtesy of the Philippine School of Interior Design) that gave space to more facilities.

The Housemates

Ezekiel - Australian hottie. Cute at artistahin.

Wendy - Hot Commercial Babe. Nkatira sa iskwater sa Navotas. May potential maging PBB winner to dahil bka makuha nya ang awa ng masa.

Nel - Mr. Perfect..daw! Naamoy ko na bading ito. Exotic daw kase ang beauty nya! Nyahaha

Saicy - Samba Dancing Diva. Un lang.

Gee Ann - Cheering Chick. Maganda at mayaman pero may pagkaisip bata kasi may mga dolls pa cya.

Mickey - Hip Hop Dancing King. Can only speak German. Pero mukhang alam magtagalog nito. May plano cguro si Big Brother dito kya kinuha cya.

* there's 6 more housemates that will enter the PBB house soon.

Panalo ang bagong look ng PBB House! The garden and pool area is fabulous, the bedrooms are cozy and modern, the confession room is comfy, the prayer room is serene, kitchen is awesome and the sala is chic. The housemates will have a great time inside the house pero im sure mahihirapan sila sa dame ng rules ni Kuya. Oh well..too bad i can't watch it so i resorft to online updates na lang. Babawi na lang ako pag weekends. hehe

Retired supermodel Tyra Banks has recreated her famous Sports Illustrated cover shot 10 years after she wowed fans by becoming the first black model to appear solo in the magazine. But Banks had to insist that more fabric was added to the skimpy red polka dot bikini she wore for the 1997 shoot - because she estimates she has put on 20 pounds since posing for the cover. She says, "We had to add more fabric... I looked like a stripper... when I first put it on 'cos I'd gained weight, so it was not looking right. So we just made it more modest." The historic photo flashback will be featured on Banks' hit TV talk show next week.

Banks’s made headlines last month when she hit back at the media for ridiculing her heavier figure. Banks, who is 5”10 and weighs 161 lbs, famously told the media to “kiss her fat ass” in a tearful denunciation on her hit TV talk show, The Tyra Banks Show. In that episode, Banks wore a bikini, which showed off her svelte figure, and did nothing to explain why she’s now the self-appointed figure-head for overweight or even average-sized American women.

In honor of Black History Month, Tyra celebrated the 10th annivesary of becoming the first Afircan-Americ an model to be fatured solo on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Editon. She recreated the groundbreaking photo in the Bahamas while wearing the same polka-dot bikini witih the same photographer she worked with a decade ago.

BEST PICTURE

Little Miss Sunshine

Quick take: A misfit family goes on a road trip to deliver the youngest daughter to a beauty pageant. Chaos, hilarity and family bonding result.

Other nominations: Original screenplay, supporting actor Alan Arkin, supporting actress Abigail Breslin
Watch for it: Steve Carell (of NBC's "The Office") runs through hotel corridors to get his niece signed into the pageant on time. It's hilarious although it's hard to say why.

Letters from Iwo Jima

Quick take: The battle of Iwo Jima from the doomed Japanese perspective, based on letters written home by the commander and his foot soldiers.

Other nominations: Director Clint Eastwood, original screenplay, sound editing
Watch for it: The great, understated war-is-hell moment comes when a commander is telling his troops how badly they are outnumbered. Then he shows them a picture of an American Army medic. Target this man, he says. Many soldiers will die to protect him.

The Departed

Quick take: Jack Nicholson is a mob boss with a guy inside the police department; all the while the police have a guy inside his operation.

Watch for it: DiCaprio gives a long yellowish envelope to a woman, with instructions to open it if anything happens to him. Can you figure out what happens to the envelope?

Other nominations: Director Alejandro González Iñárritu, supporting actresses Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi, original screenplay, original score, film editing

Watch for it: Jennifer Hudson is said to be a shoo-in for supporting actress, but Adriana Barraza's portrayal of the Mexican nanny Amelia has got to be the closest contender.

The Queen

Quick take: A character study of Queen Elizabeth II, covering the days just after Princess Diana's death.
Other nominations: Director Stephen Frears, actress Helen Mirren, original screenplay, original score, costumes

Watch for it: Not a lot of funny moments in this film, but the Queen Mother's got some good lines. Look for the part where they're discussing Diana's public services and Queen Mum realizes they're using her funeral plan.

See full details of the nominees list on www.oscars.com

BTW...i super love Ellen Degeres! She rocks! The photo above surely explains why..lolz

This is an old post from Bianca Gonzales' blog.

06 September 2005
iT iS time fOr mE tO sAy mY pEaCe.
superbianca.blogspot.com

i am 22 years old, a college graduate, from the district of las pinas, and i too, like you, have been following the hearings, the news, and been reading the newspapers. i voted for gloria during the 2004 elections because i believed she was the most capable of all the candidates to lead our country. but simply put, in my house, school, and church, i was taught that cheating, stealing, and lying is bad. sa inyo, hindi ba ganun din? no leader of my already suffering country should be able to get away with that.so yes, i want the impeachment to push through. and i think what’s happening in congress, right now, while they’re voting, is an injustice to country.to all the young people like me..nalulungkot ako pag naririnig ko ang mga kaibigan kong sinasabi na, “okay na ako kay gloria, wala naman ibang papalit eh.”

ikaw, na nabubuhay araw-araw na hindi nagnanakaw ng pera sa trabaho, na sinusubukang wag mandaya sa exam, at wag magsinungaling sa magulang o kaibigan.. papayag ka lang na ang presidenteng nagpapatakbo ng bansa mo, ganun? ikaw, nagpapakahirap ka araw-araw mag-aral at magtrabaho ng marangal, tapos dahil lang may power at pera ang pangulo, kahit walang dangal, okay lang yun sa iyo? napaka-walang bilib naman natin sa bansa natin. nakakalungkot naman na ang ganitong klaseng pangulo na lang ang best option natin. okay lang ba yun sa iyo? ibang-iba ang laban na ito. the people who want the truth to come out aren't upholding one person to replace her. some say this is the downfall of the opposition. i think its the strength. it only means na hindi personality-driven ang panawagan ng mga tao. its ideal driven. the ideal na dapat mawala ang corruption sa gobyerno. yes, it doesn't just take the changing of a president to change the country. but it has to start! if people keep saying na lahat kailangan magbago, pero hindi naman nasisimulan, aba never na mangyayari ang pagbabago! the ousting of gloria will not clean he system in one snap, definitely, but it will prove to everyone that change CAN happen.

nafru-frustrate ako pag sinasabi ng mga kaibigan ko na, “okay lang na nandaya at nangurakot siya, lahat naman din ng iba, ganun.”what an answer naman.. rizal, bonifacio, ninoy, and all our other heroes must be crying in their graves. sila nga, they fought for freedom of the country, di man lang personal freedom lang, and they fought na buhay ang sinasangla nila. tayo nga, we are free people, and “what is right” na nga ang ang pinaglalaban natin, di pa natin magawa. hindi na nga buhay ang on the line dito eh, konting discomfort na lang, di pa natin magawa.at ang evat. papayag ka ba na lumaki ang gastos mo sa gas, load, pagkain, pang-shopping, dahil kailangan pa DAW ng pera ng gobyerno para magbayad ng utang? patunayan muna nilang hindi nila kinukurakot ang pera bago sila humingi sa atin! diba tama lang yun?professor randy david, in his recent article “salute to the new” in the philippine daily inquirer, wrote “[we] deserve a better president, and this generation knows it.” tama siya! don’t you think we deserve to have a better leader? don’t you think we deserve to be treated better?we deserve a better philippines, and this generation knows it.. more than that, this generation knows that we CAN do something about it. so LET US do something about it.

to all the congressmen..tinatawag po kayong “representatives” of your respective districts, dahil kayo po ang boses ng mga mamamayan sa gobyerno.kung lahat po ng surveys, sinasabing napakalaking porsiyento ng mga pilipino ang wala nang tiwala sa pangulo, at mayorya daw ng mga pilipino ang naniniwalang nandaya, nagnakaw, at nagsinungaling ang pangulo, hindi ba po dapat ang boses na yun ang naririnig natin sa kongreso?madami ring reports ang nagsasabing kahit naniniwala ang taong guilty si pangulong gloria, pagod na silang mag-rally. kaya magtatrabaho na lang sila para makapaglagay ng pagkain sa kani-kanilang tiyan. kahit gusto nilang malaman din ang katotohanan, iba ang kailangan nilang piliing gawin para ang mabuhay.ayaw na nilang mag-rally, ayaw na nilang makialam sa pulitika, dahil pakiramdam nila, wala silang magagawa. which is where you, our supposed-to-be-honorable congressmen come in. pwede po ba? fight for those who can’t fight for themselves. to all the pro-impeachment movers.i hope what people accuse you of, having selfish motives, isn't true. i hope everyone just really, honestly, and sincerely, want to make a big start in eliminating corruption.

to madam gloria macapagal-arroyo..i say this with all due respect, pero, mahiya naman po kayo.the other day, when the supreme court said the e-vat is constitutional, you called on your people.. kahit hirap silang makakuha ng pagkain sa mesa nila araw-araw, kahit gula-gulanit ang damit ng mga anak nila, kahit napapabayaan silang may sakit dahil walang serbisyo medical na sapat, kahit halos kulang pa ang sweldo nila sa pambayad nila ng pagkain at gas, kahit nagpapatayan ang mga tao dahil lang kailangan nila ng pera.. you called on your people, in your to SACRIFICE for the greater good of the country.mahiya naman po kayo.. lead by example. MAUNA PO KAYO. sacrifice. we respect that you don’t want to step down. pero patunayan niyo munang hindi ninyo kinukurakot ang pera ng bansa, bago ka humingi ng mas madaming buwis sa min. when your kids were growing up, and let’s say mikey came home extremely late from a party. didn’t you ever ask him, “mikey! anong oras ka na umuwi? saan ka nanggaling?” diba gugustuhin mo pong magsabi siya ng totoo? diba masasaktan ka kung nagsinungaling siya at pinagtakpan ng mga kaibigan niya? at hindi ba magagalit ka kung nung tinanong mo siya, eh hindi ka sinagot, tinalikuran ka, at nag-lock sa kwarto? mahiya naman po kayo.. baliktarin niyo po ang sitwasyon ngayon. di na po bilang pangulo, pero bilang ina. napakasama niyo naman pong ehemplo sa mga bata.when it was former president estrada who was accused of different crimes, you were strong in saying that a political crisis calls for a political solution. you even added that you “regret to say but resignation is the only solution.” i was strongly anti-erap, and so were majority of the filipinos, kaya kami nagpuntang edsa, para manawagan kay erap na mag-resign.mahiya naman po kayo.. dapat, the same applies to you now. dati, resignation ang solution. biglang ngayon, chacha ang solusyon. niloloko niyo po ba kami?

i voted for you during the last elections because i believed kailangan ng bansa ng magaling na ekonomista. pero with the basic values taught to me in my home, school, and church, i know na ang hindi kailangan ng bansa natin ay ang mandaraya, magnanakaw, at sinungaling.yes, we should move on, for our country’s progress. but it should start with you, our leader. if the allegations are not true, how hard is it for you to just answer? regain the trust of your people, so
that we can ALL work together for a REAL take-off.

. . . . . . .

to those who were able to read this, i hope you do not take anything against me. i just really believe that this generation is different. we’re strong, hardworking, idealistic, real, and free. we are smart enough to know when something very wrong is happening right in front of us. more than ever, now is the perfect time to start making our country better. i hope you believe so too.

>>>>> Hats off to you Bianca! I was wowed and deeply moved by your strong views about PGMA. Even though this was posted sometime in 2005, it was still relevant to the issues that going on in our godforsaken country. I hope someday, GMA will be able to read this when she's not so busy plotting evil things to take down her enemies, oppress the poor filipino and gaining material wealth for her.

Nakakalungkot isipin that someone like her is getting away doing things like this. This is the very reason why until now, i haven't convinced myself to exercise my voting power. Like you, I have very strong faith to the Filipino Youth. The generation today will definitely not be fooled with the politician's flowery words and fake promises. I just wanted someone who is real, smart enough to make his own decision, humble enough to accept his mistakes and doesn't make fake promises.

To all who will be running for office this coming 2007 Elections, before you preach to the people your platforms of government...PLEASE THINK..TWICE!!!

The currently filming fifth installment in the Potter franchise, HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF PHOENIX has been given an official release date of July 13th, 2007. While this puts the movie in direct conflict with the release of the as-yet-unnamed final book in the franchise, which was scheduled for July 7th, neither the film's ticket sales nor the book sales should be significantly affected.

Even so, it should be interesting to see if either one gets its release date shifted. In this installment, Harry finds himself assembling a team of young wizards to battle the now revived Voldemort when he realizes the defensive magic teachings of the recently appointed Professor Dolores Umbridge are far from adequate to obviate the immense power of Voldemort and his evil cohorts. He also presumably continues trying to succesfully navigate his reponsibilities to magic and wizardry while catering to the hormonally-charged urges that invariably come with the onset of adolescence - namely, women.

Star Cinema really was quite thrilled with the success of Sam Milby’s and Toni Gonzaga’s You Are The One and came up with another mushy love flick - You Got Me! - hoping that it will produce a similar outcome. Though not as time-conscious as The Promise -which will hit theaters on V-Day, You Got Me!, which will open on Feb. 28, is set to bring in the good stuff and tries to measure up or even surpass the success of the previous Toni-Sam movie. Of course, Zanjoe Marudo comes into the picture in order to complete the love triangle and make things a lot more interesting.

You would have thought Delilah shaved Samson's head again after the breathless reports of Britney Spears shaved her head Friday night. Apparently the pop singer-mother-train wreck did the deed before going to a Sherman Oaks tattoo parlor and giving the tabloids something to pun about.

WTF??!!! What was she thinking??? Now she's really getting all the attention that she wanted! I feel bad for Britney..she must have been going thru a lot tlga..but shaving her hair won't definitely do anything good for her! Whatever reason she has for doing this must be crazy! Buti na lang bagay sa kanya ung kalbo! hehe

Naku britney...get help ok?

14. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumes the fetal position and screams "NO! NO! It's those voices again!!!!" And last, but not least -
15. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here!"

Do Nothing at Work, and Get Away With It

If you’re like me (God help you if you are), you’re lazy. Here’s a few tips I’ve came across from a site to do nothing at work and still look like you're working:

1.Look Busy - Having papers spead all over your desk helps, as do pencils which are whittled down to the eraser. If you have to walk somewhere, keep your head down, and walk quickly (this also works if you’re trying to avoid being called over to do work. NEVER MAKE EYE CONTACT!). Carrying clipboard with you while moving around also helps.

2.Look Stressed - If you look completely stressed out, co-workers and your boss will be more likely to leave you alone, since you must have other pressing matters on your mind. To look stressed leave your eyes unfocused, move from place to place quickly while quietly talking to yourself, and if someone asks you a question, stare off into the distance for a moment, give a big sigh, and answer them with an irritated tone.

3.Speak Quickly - If they can’t figure out what you said, they’ll assume you don’t have the time to explain it.

4.Find a good hiding place - Find a good hiding place. A couple good examples are under a desk, in the air vents, or a janitor’s closet.

5.Break a Limb (this will hurt a bit, lol) - Obviously this method only works when you work at a job that requires physical labour or typing. How you break the limb is up to you, though I recommend something spectacular (ie. snowboarding on the Alps).

6.Make Excuses (have a good list of excuses on hand, memorized, that is) - There’s nothing like having a good list of excuses on hand (Memorized, that is. A list on paper is suspicious). Ones like “I would stay late, but I have to babysit my mother’s aunt’s friend’s sister’s goldfish,” may work.

7.Never Leave Your Office/Room - If you don’t leave your office, you are less likely to be bothered. Remember: out of sight, out of mind. Of course, you will need to ensure that you have an ample supply of rations so that you can survive until it’s time to head home. Bathroom breaks, I’m still working on.

8.Rearrange your office so that your computer monitor faces away from any windows or doors that your boss may be able to see through. - Rearrange your office so that your computer monitor faces away from any windows or doors that your boss may be able to see through. This will ensure that you have ample time to hit the “Boss Key” in any game you’re playing, or open a Word document to hide the porn you’re surfing, should your boss happen to wander into your dungeon..er..office.

9.Fool their eyes, if you can’t rearrange your office - If you can’t rearrange your office, perhaps employ a service like
WorkFRIENDLY which acts as a proxy to mask any website that you visit. You can mask the sites to look like a Word Document and at a quick glance, they look like any other document. If the boss gets too close, click the “Boss Key” and WordFriendly will hide the website with pseudo-word document.

10.Choose a profession people don’t understand - I’m a web developer. Most people don’t REALLY understand what you need to do to be a web developer, so I might be doing a blog post, but they’re thinking I’m working. Golden!

Nagstart na pla ung campaign period for the Senatorial race..kya pala nagsisilitawan na ung mga commercials ng mga pulitiko. Hanep sa ads, pinagkagastusan tlga. Some are convincing enough but i find most of them plastic and superficial. My brother Paolo and I used to watch these ads before and every election we look forward to the most catchy election commercials. Mapapakanta ka pa minsan eh..nkakaaliw din at effective ung ads nila. I liked the People's Champion Ad before i think that was for 2004 Elections where they spelled the word Champion with the Senatoriables' name. wla lang hehe Nakita ko ung post ni Eric kanina sa blog nya so gagayahin ko muna ung format nya.

Here's the lsit of the political ads that i saw na sa TV:

Mike Defensor - I cringe everytime i see his political ad. Halatang halata ang kaplastikan! Panget pa ung background. Parang low budget lang. Natuwa lang ako kc andun si Pooh (impersonating Manny Pacquiao) and Keana Reeves.

Ping Lacson - ok lang..i just liked the part when he was with his grandson. (Jodi Sta. Maria's son with Pampi Lacson)

Allan Peter Cayetano - nice. honest. malakas ang loob nya ha for standing up against Mike Arroyo. I hope he keeps it up when he's in Senate already.

Chiz Escudero - ito ang panalo. Honest guy, straightforward, has lots of balls to stand againts the administration, witty and may sense magsalita. Dami pang pogi points! hehe

Manny Villar - i liked his ad for Gabriela. I dunno if he's using that to promote himself pero maganda ung ad. Short and simple at may impact.

Im gonna have fun. hehe I'm not a registered voter..in fact i haven't voted pa tlga. No time at parang nawalan nako ng tiwala sa gobyerno kya i don't think my vote will make a difference. Hopefully, when the political situation of our country will improve for the better maybe i will try voting na. Gudlak!!

Nga pla..tapos na ang Valentines Day. wla lang..i just slept, eric came over, tambay at kulitan kme and then hinatid nya ko sa sakayan papuntang work. hehe Simple lang..what's important is nagkasama kame. Sa saturday na lang kame mag-ddate.hehe

Valentines Day is the only day for men to have a big reason to give flowers or gifts to their special girl. This is the only day that comes once a year only that girls look forward to receive at least something special from the men in their lives! Why am i saying this?? That's because WE deserve it!! Yes, we girls deserve to receive a flower or even a simple token to show your appreciation to us! Yeah, you guys complain that any day can be a special day but its Valentines Day for god's sake! Don't complain that V-day is being used for Commercialism but you know what? Everything is used for
Commercialism! We are not asking or even obliging men to be super sweet or be our knight in shining armor..all we want is appreciation ok??

Hey..im not being sarcastic ha..i just wanna be heard. I'm not expecting any flowers or gifts tomorrow..i just wanted to be appreciated.I dunno how are you gonna do it..bhala ka na dun.

I so hate you now! I'm beginning to lose my V-day spirit because of you!!! arghh!!

Hay dko mashado naramdaman ung weekend!! Panu naman may OT kme nung Saturday and i just slept a few hours nung sunday morning kc nga i went out with Arnie and Eric kc i don't get out that often na. Lately, its just office-house lang ako.Buti na lang at nasisingit ko pa ung DVD Marathon ko with Eric which is my comfort thing now..and i get to spend quality time with Eric tlga. I can't wait for this weekend na coz we have a long weekend sa office coz it'sPresident's Day sa US hehe Holidays in the States is not often unlike here sa Pinas.

Valentines is around the corner na pla..wla lang! hehe I'm not expecting any flowers from my dear Eric coz he's not the flowers-type-of-guy. Non-traditional ang lolo mo but nonetheless he's a super sweet and caring guy that's why i LOVE LOVE LOVE him tlga! Last week ata un...he gave me a set of these cute pigs na Monokoru Boo from Gift Gate kuno! hehe Ang cute!! It's on top of my TV now..hehe (stop it..im getting mushy na!) We don't have any special plans for V-day but we're planning to go out this weekend nga. I dunno kung tuloy ung Tagaytay namen coz our Baguio plan will obviously not push thru. Ang hirap mag-plan so we'll just do something that is spur of the moment..it's easier that way.

** im bothered with something right now...napaisip lang ako bigla. wla lang..secret muna. Mahirap na. back to work muna akech.

Anna Nicole Smith, the former Playboy model whose flamboyant made-for-reality-TV life featured paternity and inheritence battles, drug and weight struggles, and her son's mysterious death, died Thursday in Florida. She was 39. Smith was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital after being found unresponsive in her hotel room at the nearby Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where she was staying with her companion, Howard K. Stern. "At 2:49 this afternoon we were advised by hospital personnel that Anna Nicole Smith died," Seminole, Fla., police Chief Charlie Tiger told reporters. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family." (Click here for CNN video of the police press conference.) An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death. Smith's bodyguard attempted CPR before she was taken to the hospital, police said. Also, a nurse was in Smith's room who made the call for help. It was not known why the nurse was there.

I had a busy-busy weekend! First stop, tatay and arnie came here from tugue for Arnie's Oath taking Ceremonies at Cuneta Astrodome last sunday.

Saturday - Shopping day! yay! Ksama ko si arnie and eric, i was looking for something decent to wear for Sunday and luckily there was this tiangge in Ali Mall that helped me save a lot! I love haggling tlga! hehe Then we ate at Pizza Hut Bistro sa Gateway..yum! Then, bought some groceries for food stuffs! (Ngaun lang napuno ung ref ko as in! Normally, its just water and a few food in there..un lng!)

Sunday - Oath taking day. So off we go to Cuneta Astrodome we left around 11 am na coz the program starts at 1pm..there you can see from afar pa lang na marami ng nakapila with their white gala dress already. Everyone is excited and is busy prepping up and taking pictures. So after waiting in line, we went up...sa bleachers! chaka!! The Big Dome was filled up to the brim tlga at nsa bleachers ang guests! Yeah i understand that there were a lot of nurses around to take their oath pero sana naman the guests which is the family members tlga were given better seats! ay nako ha! In fairness...may food naman na binigay to compensate..antagal lang magumpisa ng program sa dami nag tao! Finally, after almost 2 hours of waiting (we started aropund past 2pm na) the program started na. overall, its nice pero di cya solemn. Maingay din..the nurses themselves were bored just like we were up there! Hay naku...it could have been better..everyone paid P300 per ticket so PNA and PRC could have gotten Araneta or PICC na lng. Ang hirap pang sumakay kc not everybody has their own ride! Oh well..that's life dba? Pinoy nga naman.

The good thing is..full pledged nurse na ang utol ko! After all what happened and all the issues regarding the leakage and everything she still came through! Now she's gonna be staying with me now..she's trying to get a job here and she's gonna be reviewing for CG and NCLEX.

That night..Eric and I watched Veronica Mars DVD marathon. Aylavet!!!He finally bought Season 1 and 2 and just this afternoon he was able to buy the Season 3!!! Im so excited to watch tlga!!! Kainis kc i have barely have time for that. Hay naku..sa sunday na lang!

Every once in awhile, an American Idol contestant touches the hearts of Idol viewers in a special way. The latest contestant to pull off such a feat was none other than 64year old Sherman Pore. Even though Sherman was 36 years over the American Idol age limit of 28, he showed up at the auditions with a petition to be an American Idol contestant.

While American Idol has let contestants over the age limit audition in the past, most of those auditions have been for comic relief. However, Sherman Pore said the reason he was auditioning was he had worked on a letter and petition to become an American Idol contestant with his lady love of twenty years while she was in the hospital because of cancer. Sherman choked up as he said, “I believe that it helped her to keep a positive attitude, and I think it smoothed her passing and made it a little softer.”

Sherman Pore, whose "lady love" of 20 years died just two days before the auditions, sang a rendition of "You belong to Me" and earned handshakes and hugs from the judges.Wasn't that touching for a change?

Yeah, old Sherman got me. With his petition, and his story about his lady love of 20 years dying of cancer two days before the audition. He didn't want the judges' sympathy, he just wanted to sing for his love, and he did, a sweet, genuinely old-fashioned rendition of You Belong To Me, dedicated to his departed love. The judges, including Simon, all treated him with much-deserved respect. Needless to say, he didn't pass through, but I loved his parting shot to the camera: "I won. I am a winner."

Shucks..he kinda got me there.

Being Twenty-Something

They call it the "Quarter-life Crisis." It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are a lot of things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like.

You start feeling insecure. You wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you do not realize is that they are realizing that too and are not really cold or catty or mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.

You look at your job. It is not even close to what you thought you would be doing or maybe you are looking for one and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and are scared.

You miss the comforts of college, of groups, of socializing with the same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they weren't so great after all. You are beginning to understand yourself and what you want and do not want.

Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging a bit more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and add things to your list of what is acceptable and what is not.

You are insecure and then secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken. You wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you or you lay in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough to get to know better. You love someone but maybe is in love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are going through this because you are not a bad person.

You go through the same emotions and questions over and over and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision.

You worry about loans and money and the future and making a life for yourself and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!

What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.
