Hay gusto ko ng mag-weekend! Kami naman ang long weekend ngayon because of the Labor Day holiday in US. 3 days of laziness for me yay! Im planning a lot of things to do since i only get to do something kapag wla ako pasok. - I want to go to ukay-ukay. I haven't done that in awhile and i need denim jeans.- Do my chores. I have a mountain of clothes that i need to bring to the laundry shop. I don't do laundry kc im so tamad..except my undies naman dba. I can clean bathrooms, do the dishes and mop the floor but don't ever make me do laundry bka maiyak lang ako. hehe- Shopping. Need new clothes. What can i say? im a girl! hehe- Clean and de-clutter my apartment. I can't think right when it's messy eh. Besides, i get sipon when it's dirty.- Catch a movie. I want to see The Bourne Ultimatum pero im kinda hesitant kc i was not able to see the other 2 sequels. Bka hindi ko lang maintindihan ung story eh dba?- Go indie. Eric and I will be watching Tribu this Sunday sa Robinson's Galleria as part of the Indie Sine series. Can't wait!
For those who's not familiar with the film, Jim Libiran’s Tribu won Best Film in the Full Length feature category of the all-digital 2007 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition, which was concluded in awarding ceremonies on July 29, 2007 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo. Tribu was cited as Best Film “for its grand and graphic depiction of contemporary Tondo, Manila, its raw passion and searing violence, its terrible social conditions and conflicting social mores, and its people’s coruscating embrace of both the sacred and the profane, the filial and the tribal, the tender and the vicious.” Tribu won two other awards. The Best Actor award went to its ensemble of non-professional actors. The film won Best Sound (Mark Laccay) for “its masterful rendering of the noise and hum of the inner cities, the racket and resonance of the asphalt jungle.” As Best Full Length Feature Film, Tribu received a grant of P200,000 from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the Balanghai Trophy and a 1 Million Peso Post Production grant from Roadrunner.
Taray dba? Gangsters turned into actors! At least they're doing something very productive na. I was listening to 99.5 Hit Squad Brewrats knina and they were interviewing the cast of Tribu. Nkkatuwa ung mga stories nila on how Tribu changed their lives. I mean, they're still gangsters pero with in a different light na. Dko lang natapos kc i had to go back to work na ulet.
It's too cold here at the office. Inaantok tuloy ako. Anyways, i'll write a review of the film next week. Back to work.
